FAQ

Where can I ride an electric bike?
Treat an electric bike just the same as a normal bike. You can ride an electric assisted bike anywhere you can ride your regular bike.

Do I need a license to ride an electric bike on the road?
No you can ride an electric bike without a drivers license, just like a regular bike.

How long does it take to recharge the battery?
All our electric bikes use lithium ion battery packs. These packs recharge very quickly compared to others on the market. In general a 11ah battery will take 4 hours to recharge 100% from flat. Interestingly the battery will actually charge approx 80% in about 2 hours, but the last 20% is set on a slower charge rate.

Should I completely drain the battery before charging?
For the first 2-3 charges of the battery's life it is good to empty the battery to give it optimal performance. After this you can top up the charge at any level, even after a short ride.

Do Anticus Bikes have peddle assist or a throttle?
We have designed our bikes to have both peddle assist and throttle. This give the rider the advantage of using the throttle in situations that makes accelerating safer, like cornering and getting off the line. The peddle assist system provides power with 5 levels of power that is selected on the LCD screen. This combo gives you the best of both worlds.

How fast will Anticus electric bikes go?
Our 250 watt motor will power the Anticus Ultra on flat without peddling around 30-35km. Our 500 watt motor combined with the 48v 13ah battery will achieve speeds of around 45-50km. This model is for off road use and is NOT street legal.

What is the range of the battery?
Like any eBike, the more you peddle the greater the range and the more throttle you use the smaller the range. On average you will get 20-50km out of one charge.
Did you know that the average commute on an eBike is 9km?

Why should I ride electric bikes?
Because its fun! Apart from the fun factor eBikes are green and are good for the planet. They are cheap to run, fast in traffic or congestion, convenient and free for parking. Plus you look cool.

How often should I have my electric bike serviced?
You should have your eBike serviced just the same as your regular bike. Just because it is electric assisted doesn't mean it requires more frequent servicing. We have teamed up with brand name components like Shimano and Tektro to make servicing easy at your local bike shop.

What warranty do you offer on your bikes?
We are an New Zealand Brand and stand by our bikes. All of our electric bikes come with the best warranty possible. We offer 5 years on the frame, 1 year on all of the components on the whole electrical system so you have piece of mind buying a bike from us.
